With a rise in private sector investment, it is more important than ever for insurers to understand how to navigate transparency in this widening market. When it comes to transparency, private markets seem substantially different from their public counterparts, but finding ways to secure more transparency could be key to building trust.
Historically, private markets have offered investors less readily available information than public markets. In fact, a 2024 survey from MSCI found that only 2.2% of more than 58,000 private-capital portfolio companies disclosed Scope 1 and 2 emissions, compared to 58% of public companies in its global market index.
