Andrew Putwain: Can you introduce yourself and your role at the company?
Luca Patacconi: I'm the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at Azimut Life, which is part of the Azimut Group. I’m based in our Dublin offices.
My background is actuarial. I'm an actuary both in Italy and also with the Society of Actuaries in Ireland. I volunteer both at home and with Italian professional bodies, and I am also a member of the Climate & Sustainability Committee within the International Actuarial Association.
Azimut Group is a Fund Manager leader in Europe with several offices spread across the globe.
Azimut Life is the insurance company within the group. We focus on the Italian market, but we are expanding the portfolio. We focus on investment-related products, to be more specific, unit-linked with insurance coverage.
We cover life events based on different situations, given the market. We're trying to give coverage that can create appetite with our policyholders in relation to the market risk.
As a CRO of the life entity, which is under the Solvency II regulatory framework, I have several responsibilities, such as the second line of controls, ORSA, calculation of the investment limits, approval and review of ad-hoc investment proposals and calculation of capital requirements.
