On Monday morning, Sir Keir Starmer announced his resignation as Prime Minister. He’s the sixth Prime Minister in ten years for the UK whose tenure saw rising unemployment, political volatility, and a sluggish economy.
A top contender to replace Starmer is the former mayor of Greater Manchester and newly elected member of parliament, Andy Burnham, after winning his seat in the Makerfield by-election. Burnham’s potential policies, according to the BBC, include public control of water, energy, and transportation, as well as increased defence spending, which could see major government investments.
