Matthew Letourneau: Can you briefly introduce yourself, your role, and your experience?
Jyotsna Kaushik: I'm Head of Modelling and Monitoring at Aptia Group. I’m an investment actuary by training and a mathematician by academia. My role involves combining technology, investment knowledge, consulting and strategy to help clients make better decisions.
I started my actuarial career in India almost 20 years ago, with my first actuarial role focused on pricing Defined Benefit pension schemes. I moved to the UK in 2012 and joined an Actuarial Modelling team at an insurer. This was during the transition to Solvency II, when a lot of work was focused on assets, particularly around the Matching Adjustment, an area that combines assets and liabilities. I transitioned into asset modelling and decided to specialise in finance and investment. Since then, I have worked in the ALM and investment area across both consulting and industry.
My previous role was with a quantitative engineering team at an insurer, where we built models and applications to help asset management teams make better decisions, supporting their day-to-day hedging and investment activities.
