Short-termism is hampering infrastructure in the UK and having a knock-on effect on the wider economy.
In a new report, “Planes, trains and regulatory gains”, from the Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC), a solution given for this ailment is Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) between central/local government and institutional investors to bring forward more supply of investable projects.
This, it said, would enable a host of investment opportunities for institutional investors that would be long-term and come without the risk that other projects might have, due to the involvement of the government.
