A host of challenges and opportunities are apparent in EY’s 2026 insurance outlook, released this week, primarily covering the US market.
One of the main themes was the industry’s access to capital and how much third-party money is available to those in the market as well.
The report showed there has been a massive growth of private equity-owned insurance in the US. Between 2018 and 2024, the number of PE-owned carriers grew by 50%, from 90 to 137, according to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
