A streamlined authorisation and lower capital rules aim to bring captives back onshore with the latest development in the UK's incoming captive regime.
The Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) has set out plans for a bespoke UK regime for single-parent captive insurers. This long-requested change could persuade hundreds of UK businesses to bring activity now based offshore back home.
As part of the long process, the PRA released consultation paper CP11/26 on 14 July 2026 alongside a parallel FCA consultation on conduct matters.
Industry comments are due by 14 October. The PRA's September Regulatory Digest confirmed that its 17 September roundtable gave stakeholders a final opportunity to question the proposed regime directly.
