The surprisingly light Q3 2025 Atlantic Hurricane season losses mean some may become complacent, but a new report warns there is no let-up in huge natural catastrophes (nat cats) losses in the future.
This is important to insurers' investment portfolios as the losses from underwriting during heavy nat cat event periods can put huge pressure on investments to shore up the shortfall.
It also could lead to changes in asset allocation, such as real estate investments, which are adversely affected in high-growth areas of the US, such as Florida.
