What will the Atlantic hurricane season mean for insurers?

An active hurricane season could prove expensive for reinsurers already looking at high costs after the LA wildfires.

The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, which begins on 1 June and ends on 30 November, is projected to have above-average activity, according to multiple sources.

Numerous industry figures have said that 2025 could be an expensive year for insurers. This could range to those with large investment portfolios too, especially those that are in real estate. Large natural catastrophe (nat cat) pay outs could also affect profitability for insurers.
