Lloyd’s 2024 investment returns see decrease

The insurance market said Q4 volatility dented its investment profit, and California wildfires would likely also hurt its finances.

Lloyd's saw a fall in investment return from £5.3 billion in 2023 to £4.9 billion in 2024.

Lloyd’s of London, the world’s largest insurance marketplace, has released its preliminary trading update for its full year 2024 (unassured) results.

In the statement, it said Gross Written Premium increased by 6.5% to £55.5 billion, which compared to £52.1 billion in 2023, and showed 8.5% growth.

This was primarily in the property and reinsurance segments, which had a strong underwriting performance in the year, it said.
