Chariot Re appoints new Chief Investment Officer

New Bermuda-based reinsurer hires former MetLife Investment Management executive as CIO.

New kid on the block, Chariot Re has appointed Reena Pally as its Chief Investment Officer (CIO), effective September 1.

Chariot Re is a Bermuda-based life and annuity reinsurer. It launched this year with co-sponsorship from MetLife and General Atlantic, with backing from Chubb and other investors. Chariot Re’s uses MetLife’s liability origination capabilities.

Speaking to Bermuda’s The Royal Gazette, a source said Pally’s hire “reflects [Chariot Re's] ongoing focus on building depth in its executive ranks”.

Previously, Pally was with MetLife Investment Management (MIM), based in New Jersey, where she was Managing Director and Portfolio Manager in the Real Estate group. In that role, she managed MetLife Insurance Investors’ commercial mortgage portfolio within the Debt Strategies Group. Before that, she held several senior roles, including Portfolio Manager for sectors within MIM.

She oversaw MetLife Insurance Investors’ commercial mortgage portfolio within the debt strategies group. She has also held a number of senior investment roles across MIM.

Pally said in a post on her LinkedIn page that “After 23 years at MetLife Investment Management, I am excited to embark upon my next chapter as Chief Investment Officer of Chariot Re.”

“I look forward to joining Chariot Re’s inspirational, world-class team. I am excited for our glide path and thrilled for the future of Chariot Re!”.

In its statement, Chariot Re focused on the company's growth opportunity that Pally's appointment brought.
